Sachin Tendulkar - The Cricket Star of India

Don't take up the captaincy young man. It will wear you down, said a voice from the crowd during the Indian tour of England when Sachin was due to become the captain of Indian team.

All eyes suddenly darted across the middle aged man who had spoken those words. There was no break in Sachin's motion of the hand as he looked up and smiled "Nothing wears you down as long as you enjoy doing if" replied the heir apparent to Mohd. Azharuddin.

The prophecy of that faceless stranger in the crowd came to be true.

Today Sachin Tendulkar is most popular cricketer of India. A boyish individual, he led the Indian cricket team into the 21st century successfully.

Tendulkar's talent and perseverance didn't come easy. His patience was tested by his will to win. But what matters most is Sachin's positive frame of mind and insatiable hunger of cricketing glory. In recent years of consequent defeats of India in the world cups, the mood in the nation became sombre, and the fans of Indian team turned frustrated, Sachin issued an appeal not to lose courage. According to him what Indian team wanted is best wishes. Sachin has the guts to instil self-belief of turning the table in the last hour.

Ten years ago Sachin Tendulkar's name did not ring a bell. Now it beats a fatalistic drum that has been the death knell of many a bowler. No cricket loving person forget that clouded day in Pakistan in 1989-90 series when Sachin was being continuously beaten by Abdul Qadir who had not heard of this young man's batting qualities. Qadir challenged him to hit his ball for a four.

Sachin smiled and said you are one of the world's greatest spinners. How can I hit you for a four ? What transpired on the very next delivery is something Qadir would not like to forget for the rest of his life. Sachin smashed him for one of the most elegant and scintillating series of his. And in the next over when the fiery Akram came to bowl, treated him with scant respect. By the end of the day, both Qadir and Akram did not know what had hit them. And by the end of tour it was clear to all that Sachin Tendulkar was soon going to become any bowler's nightmare.

Basketball Kits and Jerseys

Truth of the matter is basketball is never without a great basketball uniform, and the way the basketball kit is built will spell a look of admiration or a look of dismay for the spectators. There are many kinds of basketball kits out there in the market; the ones that are popular are the ones that represent the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the States.

From kids to adults alike they don the NBA superstar basketball jersey as if there is some kind of power that emanates from it. Some say wearing a Larry Bird basketball jersey is to equal the Birdman's deadly shooting touch. Others say it adds a fashion statement to street wear.

Whatever it is basketball jerseys have become a pillar of fashion not just in basketball but everywhere where basketball is played. Taking a look at the different kinds of basketball jerseys that have invaded the market through the years you can tell that basketball not only revolutionized the way we play the game but also how we look while playing the game. Some teams have incorporated the retro uniforms in which they show up with uniforms of the past.

In the NBA since it has been with us for a very long time basketball uniforms have gradually changed their look and incorporating it in the present times brings us memories of basketball yesteryears. Being a great fan of the NBA or any league in particular means trying to get hold of the same basketball jerseys out in the market but since the real thing is expensive they go for replica basketball jerseys. These are composed of cheap materials available for budget constrained consumers.

But in case you have the cash to buy the genuine stuff then go for the authentic basketball uniform. These are the same ones which the players usually throw out to the audiences after the game (case in point: Dennis Rodman of the Chicago Bulls usually does this antic). The material would be of high standard and shrunken down to the average person's size. If you're a collector then the authentic pro cut player's basketball jersey is for you.

These basketball uniforms are exactly the ones which the player dons but exactly the same with regards to the size. So if you get the uniform of tallest NBA player (as of the moment) Yao Ming (standing at 7 feet 6 inches in height) you also get the exact size of his basketball kit.

Football shoes attribute the goals they score to their shoes aiding their skills

The game of football has had many innovations introduced into it over the years. One of the biggest has been in the technology that is used in the footwear of the players. The football shoes a football player wears have over the years become sleeker, lighter and give the player the ability to kick a ball better and with more speed. Over the years, we will continue to see so many more innovations in football shoes that football player's wear that they will stop resembling shoes and look like something all together different.

It seems the history of Football Shoes starts with one of the most controversial kings of England, the religion inventing, wife divorcing, head chopping Henry the VIII. Apparently, in 1525, the court dress maker produced a pair of football shoes for the king that were made of leather and were much heavier than normal shoes. It isn't known whether Henry the VIII played football but if he had football shoes made then he obviously liked to kick a ball around in his spare time. The modern variation of the football shoe was first seen in the 1800s when football was still played as a pastime and wasn't a formal sport yet. The factory workers and villagers would gather together and start a game. The shoes they wore were the same boots they wore to work, heavy leather shoes with steel capped toes and they hammered makeshift spikes into the bottom of them to increase the grip of their work shoes.

Slowly over the years, changes were slowly introduced into the humble football shoe and the one big significant change that happened was that companies started producing soccer shoes. As the decades moved on, changes in soccer shoes kept occurring until the moment Adidas Soccer Shoes introduced the greatest football shoe ever made.

The Adidas Predator was a unique innovation in shoe technology and changed the way players saw their shoes. These shoes are nothing like normal football shoes. First of all the top of the line models that the world's best football players wear are made from kangaroo leather. This special leather makes the shoes extremely flexible and gives them superb elastic properties. The shoes also have some very innovative spikes at the bottom of them, to give the players better grip and more flexibility. It seems all footballers care about is comfort and the ability to have the shoe move the way they want them to move. They do not care about durability, with the money they make them really do not have to care about that aspect of them.

There is more science to be found in the shoes football players wear than in a school science lab. Scientific experts are employed to investigate exactly how people run and then mould the shoes around this fact, while making them extremely stable, very elastic and increasing the density factor in them as well. Mercurial Talaria like the exotic sounding kevlar will be used in the future because it is extremely strong, while being very flexible and light at the same time. This property of the material makes it an ideal candidate to be used in football shoes because footballers need their shoes to be able to bend and turn quickly, while being strong enough to handle a lot of pressure that kicking a ball or ending up in a tackle exerts on the shoes. Kevlar is interesting because it is also used in protective gear used by armed forces and police personnel.

Football shoes will continue to change and innovate as the years go by. With Adidas, Nike, Puma and other companies continuing to strive ahead with shoe technology, we will see many more unique shoes being produced in the very near future. New shoe technology will allow footballers to curve the ball better and score more goals, which will be great for the spectators. With advances in the game of football, football shoe technology will move on as well, until a time will come when football shoe technology will become so advanced, that regulations against shoes giving players advantages will have to be set in place by the governing bodies.

Until then though we can all be excited by the latest football shoes that our favourite players wear and attribute the goals they score to their shoes aiding their skills.

The King of Stylish Sportswear: Puma

The Dessler brothers, Rudolf and Adolf, started their first athletic shoe company in 1924.In 1928 during the Amsterdam Olympic Games half of all of the athletes wore Dassler shoes. While World War II raged, a more private war broke up the Dassler shoe company. Rudolf formed Puma in 1948, and Adolf formed Adidas.

After the Dassler brothers early Olympic showings they individually understood that their continued success would depend on well-known athletes wearing their shoes. In 1952 Josy Barthel of Luxembourg won gold wearing Puma's in the Helsinki Summer Olympics. The American Olympic Committee chose Puma as their official shoe supplier in 1952 and 1956. Puma made the 'Clyde' named for NY Knicks Walt 'Clyde' Frazier and the Puma Pele Brazil after the king of the stadium, Pele.

Puma's are fast runners with astonishing vertical leap, and can also climb and swim.Is there a better name and logo for an athletic shoe company than the Puma? The Puma logo doesn't just grace their magnificent running shoes: Puma tennis shoes, Puma clothing, jackets, hats and bags all bear the graceful logo of a leaping Cougara logo that symbolizes competition. The new Puma running shoes stand out in any crowd with their hot reds, bright pinks and brilliant purples. Some people believe that Puma's are the only athletic shoe that can completely crossover from the stadium to the stage, the coliseum to the classroom.

Now it may seem that basing a shoe on the foot's natural movement makes perfect sense, but it was Puma that used medical research to make this a reality.Puma was the first company to use vulcanization to join the shoe soles to the uppers. If you love your Velcro straps, you can thank Puma for that as well. Puma studied the world's fastest runners to make a better shoe, figuring that if their running shoes are good enough for Usain Bolt than they might be good enough for the rest of us.

Puma was the first to base a shoe on the foot's natural movements. Today, they've taken that to a whole new level with their BioRide technology. They took their time and came up with a running shoe that had a sole which supported the natural movement of the foot. The Puma Faas is Puma's latest hi-tech contribution to the world of running shoes.BioRide has three integrated parts, Rocker, Flex and Groove, which work together with your feet to create a more natural running rhythm.

In today's modern world Puma understands the need to diversify. Puma has partnered with two of the fastest cars: Ferrari and BMW. The record-breaking Usain Bolt is Puma's latest (and some argue the greatest) addition to their celebrity athlete roster.Puma has enjoyed a long, varied history and like a cat lands on its feet, they've always managed to come out on top.

The Radford Cricket Nets

Cricket nets will be a further term for practise nets and will be utilised by each batsmen and bowlers. These nets are employed in warm ups prior to a cricket match, or just found in practice periods to develop players cricketing methods.
The netting consists of a cricket pitch, which could be either natural or artificial, and it is enclosed by nets on both sites, back and at the same time the roof is elective regardless of whether left open or sealed with net. Primarily, they serve the functionality of stopping the ball going across the field once the batsman hits the ball bowled, saving time in finding the ball or balls. They also enable higher depth when instruction specially when numerous lanes tend to be utilized. These nets additionally permit sole batting practice (when a bowling machine is employed).
They also play a huge role in cricket practice and therefore happen to be employed at every level of cricket. They're especially appealing in these fields as they permit safe and efficient training specially with a high volume of school children where there are usually constraints on time.

Another highlight is the safety aspect of using the nets. By containing a great number of cricket balls hit in mid-air, the nets assist decrease the hazard of possible injury occurring from hard cricket balls striking people who tend to be within range of the batsman.
The 2 main different types of cricket nets, namely in house cricket nets and outdoor cricket nets. In house cricket nets will probably be pres'ent in virtually all sports halls and gyms from where the suspension on runners provides a curtain type system for the nets and permits the nets to be pulled in and out to use. The flexible nature of such nets provides for multiple sports activity usage of sports halls that is fundamental to the success of all the commercially operated sports centers.
Outdoor cricket nets are usually definitely the regular and most popular kind of practice nets. Irrespective of their style and construction, outdoor cricket nets all have the same purpose of allowing batting and bowling practice within a great surrounded space in which the ball is contained.
Previously nets were usually made from nylon, however, today the net is usually stated in a synthetic polymer which is hard wearing and is a comparatively economic material. A good standard cricket net will at the same time be Uv guarded and rot proof. The net is a vital part or component and cricket net methods are generally an important piece of equipment, as this may be the single spot where cricket is usually trained properly.

Adidas Cricket Sunglasses

In spring 2008 a team of adidas representatives travelled to India to carry out intensive testing of the adidas sunglasses range with the England Lions Cricket Team. Following a series of tests in various cricket simulations and light conditions, two frames were selected; the adidas Adivista and the T-Sight in combination with LST lenses.

Today's game is faster than ever. So increasing eye speed, reducing eye fatigue and enhancing eye protection are vital to player performance. That's why adidas is an official partner of England Cricket.

Following intensive testing, the England players chose adidas Adivista and T-Sight sunglasses. Both offer 2 sizes, adjustable fit and traction grip. Lenses use adidas Light Stabilising Technology (LST) to help players cope with changing light conditions whilst enhancing the ball against backgrounds.

Intensive testing
Adidas representatives travelled to Vadodara (NW India) where the England Lions Cricket Team were on tour. Adidas spent just under a week with the England Lions players and was thoroughly incorporated into their training schedule. It was fantastic weather during the testing period, which meant the England players were tested both in hot, clear conditions and also under mixed skies, which affected both light conditions and background colours.
Intensive testing was carried out through a structured methodology that had been initiated using vision and cricket specialists. Fielding was the main focus here, where players were tested in every situation and measured according to their visual performance and preference. Players were surprised by the difference lens tint options can make to their vision and the overall impact of wearing sports sunglasses. A comparison exercise took place to compare different frames and lenses in terms of fit, comfort and vision.
The test results indicated that whilst playing with a red cricket ball, the LST Trail Silver and LST Vario lenses from adidas out performed other lenses and were preferred overall by the England Lions Team. The reasons for this included the fact that the ball stood out from the background better and performed well in a variety of light conditions. The adidas LST Trail Silver and LST Vario lenses reduce blue and green light to promote the red end of the spectrum and hence make the ball stand out from the background.
The adidas T-Sight and Adivista frames also performed best overall as they offer great fit and vision qualities to the cricketer. Other adidas frames were also researched, and in some cases found suitable for cricket, but the T-Sight and Adivista took top position. Fit and comfort are very personal qualities and so this can vary between players; the option of two sizes from adidas helps to customise the fit to an individual.

Special Cycling Shoes

All sports have a certain gear connected to them. Essentially, what you wear or what you put on to play a particular sport that will make you comfortable. This gear is important for professional and safety reasons.

While for a sport like swimming or Triathlons, the accessories are multiple like goggles, wet suits, caps, and others. But for Cycling, apart from an excellent top class bike, all you need is a good, firm, strong pair of shoes to get you all the way across the course.

Nowadays, as technology progresses, cycling shoes are created to work as part of clip less pedal systems. In these systems, the pedal is directly attached to the shoe for the purpose of maximum effectiveness of power, which comes by using a clip on the backside of every shoe and a matched fitting on the pedal along with it.

Another system used in modern day cycling is the toe clip system where a toe clip is attached onto the pedal and all the cyclist needs to do is slip his feet inside it. This toe clip ensures grip and makes sure that the cyclist’s feet do not slip off while cycling. Some systems involve shoes already attached to the pedals of the cycles. So the cyclist can just sit and slip it on without further ado. These shoes mostly come with elastic laces so that they don’t have to bother themselves with tying laces.

Cycling shoes are available in a variety of designs and sizes based on how intense the competition is expected to be and how rough is the terrain they work on. The main key features of cycling shoes are rigidity, firmness, lightness, shape and the sole. They come in four basic types: for road racing, touring, spinning, and mountain biking or off-road cycling.

Road cycling must involve the use of shoes that is very smooth, strong and fixed. The sole of these shoes is inflexible in nature and also this sole is bent in a manner such that power can be transferred as well as focused at a single point. Quality is generally measured by the shoe’s rigidity, lasting capability and lightness. Touring shoes on the other hand often give up on rigidity for grip and add treads and a lower-level cleat, so that the rider can both walk and cycle effortlessly.

There is a recessed cleat available in the shoes used for Mountain Biking and along with the sole of these shoes; studs and spikes are also present. This is ensured as the sport of mountain biking involves a very difficult as well as a rocky terrain.

The cleats used for Mountain biking are mostly smaller in size than road cleats. The shoes meant for spinning are something that have been very recently developed on the basis of a brand new concept like a mixture of road and touring shoes, with a hard and firm sole. The spinning shoes are made out of a very light, smooth and thin material to make sure that the biker does not face problems. It is also done on purpose to make sure that the shoes are extremely comfortable, light and can be worn for long hours without bother.

Clothing And Equipment Used In Boxing

There are particular types of clothing that are essential for bouts in boxing. This is generally irrespective of the weight class in a boxing fight. The type of clothing for amateur boxers is generally different from the type of clothing that is meant for the professional boxers. The mandatory clothing requirements for all the boxers who participate in the sanctioned fights are hand wraps, soft soled shoes, gloves, groin protectors and mouth guards.

The shorts that are worn by amateur boxes are generally the ones that have been approved by the concerned sanctioning body. However, in case of professional boxing, the fighters are given the authority to make selection with respect to the design and the color of their shorts. Thus, in the case of professionals the choice of shorts for the fighters is generally not regulated. Therefore, some of the boxers even choose to get their name embroidered on the shorts and on other given instances, the logos of the sponsors or the sanctioning bodies may be present on the shorts of a particular fighter. Some of the professional boxers may prefer to wear very simple and rather plain shorts while others prefer elaborate shorts. Most of the modern generation of prefers to wear shorts with loose fitting. This is because they wish to have an improved movement and comfort level.

The tank tops shirts are preferred generally by the amateur boxers and the professional women boxers. The mandatory requirement in case of amateur boxers is that the color of their sleeveless shirt and headgear should be similar to the color of the corner that has been assigned to them. Most of the professional boxers are required to fight without a headgear and also bare-chested. Short sleeved shirts are generally allowed for the female boxers who fall in amateur ranks. The female boxers are also allowed to wear a chest protector.

A mouthpiece is generally required for all the boxers. The construction of this mouthpiece is generally regulated by the sanctioning body as well as the fighters themselves. It is important for all the boxers to have a foul protector if they are participating in sanctioned bouts. This is important as it can ensure the protection of the groin as well as the lower abdomen.

And although all the boxers have to wear gloves, the amateur boxers can only make use of the approved gloves. In case of the amateur boxers, the inspection of the gloves is made by the representatives of the sanctioning as well as by the opponent’s corner.

Soft soled shoes are required to be worn by all the boxers. These shoes play a very important role in the minimizing of the damage that can happen as a result of either intentional or accidental stepping on feet.

There are forceful and repetitive punches involved in boxing as a sport, therefore it is also important for the boxers to take all necessary precautions so that they are able to prevent any damage to the bones of the hand. In order to ensure the same, the boxers generally make use of the necessary equipment.

There have been times when people get so excited to get on to a mountain bike and hit the track. Not only a bicycle or a bike or things like food, sunscreen and others are important. The right mountain biking tools or gear make you and the ride comfortable and safe, too. There are certain things listed below which are important during a mountain ride:-

It is a good item because it contains a bunch of all the tools required during a ride. Instead of carrying tools separately it is better to carry a multi tool. Many multi tools have spoke wrench and chain tool. This helps in reducing weight during the ride.

Chain Tool:
Chain tools help in repairing the broken chain of the bicycle. A couple of extra pins and links should be there with the chain tool.

Spoke Wrench:

Flat Tire Gear:

How to buy quality equipments from cricket stores

The world – though the game was said to have been initially played only in England. Cricket is considered the world’s second most popular sport after football. In view of this overwhelming popularity of the game, there is a wide choice of several reputable and reliable sports goods companies which sell high quality cricket equipment at affordable prices.

It is possible to buy all types of good quality cricket equipments – right from cricket shoes to bats to gloves to cricket balls – either physically shopping around or online. There are several websites that also offer a lot of helpful information concerning various items of cricket equipment.

The list of cricket equipments include Cricket Bats, Batting Gloves, Helmets, cricket balls, Elbow Guards, Chest Guards, Thigh Pads, Wicket Keeping Gloves, Wicket Keeping Pads, Batting Pads, Cricket Stumps/Wickets etc.

It is good to remember that reliable and even sophisticated cricket equipment for playing the game are today available as most of them are specially designed by cricket wear experts. The manufacturers claim that they bestow the necessary care and attention when making cricket clothing, footwear and cricket gear to ensure they are supportive, functional, comfortable to wear and economically priced.

It needs to be stated that the right cricket clothing should be durable and comfortable to wear for long hours standing at the crease as batsmen or deliver the balls continuously as a bowler. Any physical discomfort in clothing can adversely affect the performance of a cricketer in the field.

Professional cricketers choose to wear shirts, trousers and special underwear usually made from cotton and elastane or lightweight polyester materials and the clothing generally have that soft feel and functional air flow panels. The stretch cricket trousers are equipped with breathable mesh panels, convenient side pockets, poppers and elastic waists and tie cords.

It is also good to know about the sturdy base layers worn by players underneath clothing. They include base layer leggings, shorts, long sleeve items, tights, etc – mostly made of nylon, polyester, lycra and elastane with antibacterial properties. Cricketers opt for inner crotch panels, practical fly openings, flat seaming to keep them warm when the weather is cold.

When buying cricket shoes, make sure they feature special spikes which lend support and stability to foot movements. You can buy full spike, half spike, multi spike shoes created for various levels of cricketers. High quality cricket shoes must be sturdy yet lightweight and flexible featuring breathable synthetic uppers, rubber high traction outsoles, high response mid soles, gel cushioning, low cut designs and such other comfort factors. Cricket balls are of red or white color with cork base. The cork base is then wrapped in twine and further covered with leather. The standard cricket ball has a circumference of 23 cm (9 inches).

For a cricketer, the most crucial item is the bat as without the right quality of bat, it may be dangerous to face bowlers who bowl a cricket ball at nearly 100mph. First, you must find out the size of cricket bat you will be most comfortable using. The length of the bat should not be longer than 38 inches. The blade and the handle are the two parts of the bat that you should specifically take interest to examine. A good cricket bat is usually made of about 20 separate canes that come with rubber layers pasted into it so that they can act as shock absorbers.

It is also necessary to choose the perfect handle length – be it long or short – and the diameter that is appropriate to your height and size of hand. English willow is widely acknowledged as the best material for the blade. Try to buy a compressed curved cricket blade and avoid the shaved bats because the curved ones are certainly superior to the shaved ones.

Dakar Rally

The Dakar Rally (or simply "The Dakar"; formerly known as "The Paris-Dakar" or "Paris to Dakar Rally") is an annual rally raid type of off-road automobile race, organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation. Most events since the inception in 1978 were from Paris, France, to Dakar, Senegal, but due to security threats in Mauritania which led to the cancellation of the 2008 rally, the 2009 Dakar Rally was run in South America (Argentina and Chile), the first time the race took place outside of Europe and Africa. It has stayed in South America from 2009 to the present (2011). The race is open to amateur and professional entries. Amateurs typically make up about eighty percent of the participants.

Despite its name it is an off-road endurance race, called a rally-raid rather than a conventional rally — the terrain the competitors traverse is much tougher and the vehicles used are true off-road vehicles rather than the modified on-road vehicles used in rallies. Most of the competitive special sections are off-road, crossing dunes, mud, camel grass, rocks and erg among others. The distances of each stage covered vary from short distances up to 800–900 kilometres (500–560 mi) per day.

2011 Dakar Rally

The 2011 Dakar Rally was the 32nd running of the event. It was held in Argentina and Chile for the third successive time, and ran from 1 to 16 January. The Amaury Sport Organisation and the governments of Argentina and Chile agreed to a return to South America for the event on 23 March 2010.

The rally concluded in Buenos Aires, with Vladimir Chagin of Russia achieving a record seventh victory in the truck division, at the wheel of his Kamaz, thus becoming the most successful driver in a single category in the history of the event. Nasser Al-Attiyah of Qatar and Timo Gottschalkof Germany won in the car division, giving Volkswagen their third successive victory in the car class. Marc Coma from Spain won his third Dakar in the motorcycle category, and Alejandro Patronelli of Argentina repeated the feat of his brother—Marcos Patronelli in 2010—to win the class for quad-bikes.

Motorcycles

KTM's Cyril Despres won the first two stages of the rally, to take an early lead of over two minutes on fellow KTM rider Marc Coma. Coma closed the gap to just fourteen seconds after his win on the third stage, and took the overall lead on stage four with his second stage win as Despres lost over ten minutes on the stage, dropping him to second in the standings. Coma maintained his lead overall until the end of the race, taking further stage wins in stages eight, ten and twelve en route to his third victory in the event. Despres, a three-time winner himself, won stage eleven but ended the rally fifteen minutes behind Coma in second place. Aprilia's Francisco López Contardomoved into third position after the fourth stage, and having won the seventh stage, had been set to complete the podium behind Coma and Despres. However on the final stage, López Contardo suffered a mechanical failure 22 kilometres (14 mi) from the finish line and lost over an hour to his rivals. His misfortune allowed Hélder Rodrigues, riding a Yamaha to take third place. López Contardo took fourth position, almost half an hour behind Rodrigues.

Cycling

Cycling, also called bicycling or biking, is the use of bicycles for transport, recreation, or forsport. Persons engaged in cycling are cyclists or bicyclists.

Bicycles were introduced in the 19th century and now number about one billion worldwide. They are the principal means of transportation in many regions.

Cycling is an extremely efficient mode of transportation optimal for short to moderate distances. Bicycles provide numerous benefits compared to motor vehicles, including exercise, an alternative to the use of fossil fuels, no air or noise pollution, much reduced traffic congestion and likelihood of causing a fatality, easier parking, greater maneuverability, and access to both roads and paths. The advantages are at less financial cost to the user as well as society (negligible damage to roads, and less pavement required). Criticisms and disadvantages of cycling include reduced protection in crashes, particularly with motor vehicles, longer travel time (except in densely populated areas), vulnerability to weather conditions, difficulty in transporting passengers, and the skill and fitness required.

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar ( born 24 April 1973) is an Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in thehistory of cricket. He is the leading run-scorer and century maker in Test and one-day international cricket. He is the only male player to score a double century in the history of ODI cricket. In 2002, just 12 years into his career, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Donald Bradman, and the second greatest one-day-international (ODI) batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards. In September 2007, the Australian leg spinner Shane Warne rated Tendulkar as the greatest player he has played with or against.

Tendulkar is the first and the only player in Test Cricket history to score fifty centuries, and the first to score fifty centuries in all international cricket combined; he now has 99 centuries in international cricket. On 17 October 2008, when he surpassed Brian Lara's record for the most runs scored in Test cricket, he also became the first batsman to score 12,000, 13,000 and 14,000 runs in that form of the game, having also been the third batsman and first Indian to pass 11,000 runs in Test cricket. He was also the first player to score 10,000 runs in one-day internationals, and also the first player to cross every subsequent 1000-run mark that has been crossed in ODI cricket history and 200 runs in a one-day international match. In the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Tendulkar surpassed Australia's Allan Border to become the player to cross the 50-run mark the most number of times in Test cricket history, and also the second ever player to score 11 Test centuries against Australia, tying with Sir Jack Hobbsof England more than 70 years previously. Tendulkar passed 30,000 runs in international cricket on 20 November 2009. He also holds the world record for playing highest number of Test and ODI matches.Tendulkar has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan award, India's second highest civilian award, and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratnaaward, India's highest sporting honor. Tendulkar became the first sportsperson and the first personality without an aviation background to be awarded the honorary rank of Group Captain by the Indian Air Force. He has received honorary doctorates from Mysore University and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences He won the 2010 Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for cricketer of the year at the ICC awards.

Sachin Tendulkar Records List

It is rightly said, "Sachin does not chase records, records chase Sachin." If you go about listing Sachin's Tendulkar's batting records, you will soon realize that it is an extremely tiring (and endless) job, simply because, the man keeps coming up with a new record or achievement every other fortnight! Therefore, for the purpose of simplicity (and subsequent updation), I will divide this article on Sachin Tendulkar records into various categories such as Sachin Tendulkar ODI Records, Sachin Tendulkar Test Records, Sachin Tendulkar World Records, etc. Enjoy the read!

Most Man of the Series (MoS) awards in ODI cricket (15 MoS awards, as of March 1, 2010).
Another of Sachin Tendulkar's ODI records happens to be that of the 'most number of consecutive matches for a team'. Between 25th April 1990 and 24th April 1998, Sachin represented India in 185 consecutive ODIs.
Till date, Sachin Tendulkar has scored 1000+ ODI runs in a calendar year on 7 occasions (1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2007). This is a world record.
Sachin Tendulkar was involved in a mammoth 331-run partnership for the 2nd wicket with Rahul Dravid (versus New Zealand at Hyderabad on 8th Nov 1999). Till date, this remains the highest partnership for any wicket in One Day Internationals.
The formidable pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly scored 26 hundred plus partnerships in ODIs. Of these, 21 century stands were for the opening wicket. Both of these happen to be world records.
Another lesser-known Sachin Tendulkar ODI record (also a world record) is that of most stadium appearances. In ODI cricket, till date, Sachin has played on 90 different grounds across the world (as per March 1, 2010).
In ODIs, Sachin has scored over 2,500 runs against Australia, as well as against Sri Lanka. No other batsman has managed to achieve such a feat (even against a single opponent, forget about two).Sachin Tendulkar Test Records

Here is a listing of Sachin Tendulkar's records in Test cricket:
Sachin Tendulkar has scored the highest number of Test centuries in the history of Test cricket (51 Test centuries, as of Jan 07, 2011).
On Dec 19th 2010, Sachin Tendulkar brought up his 50th Test century against the South Africans at SuperSport Park, Centurion. In the process, he became the first and only cricketer on the planet to have scored 50 Test hundreds; a phenomenal achievement in the game of cricket.
He is now the leading run scorer in Test cricket after having surpassed Brian Lara's tally of 11,953 Test runs in 2008.
Prior to Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (who broke Sachin Tendulkar's record on Aug 5, 2010), Sachin was the fastest man to reach the milestone of 8,000 runs in Test cricket (in terms of least number of innings required. Sachin had required 154 innings to cross the mark, whereas Sangakkara did it in 152 innings).
Sachin is also the joint-fastest to reach the coveted milestone of 10,000 runs in Test cricket (Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara both achieved this milestone in 195 innings).
First man to reach 12,000 runs in Test cricket.
First man to reach 13,000 runs in Test cricket.
First man to reach 14,000 runs in Test cricket.
Sachin has scored Test centuries against all Test-playing nations, a feat achieved only by a handful of international players.
When he recently stepped out onto the field in Sri Lanka to play his 169th Test Match, Sachin Tendulkar created a new record by surpassing Steve Waugh of Australia, to become the most capped player in the world in Test Cricket.
When he scored his 49th Test century against Australia at Bangalore on 11th Oct 2010, Sachin Tendulkar became the first Indian batsman to have scored 6 Test hundreds in a calendar year. The previous Indian record was 5 hundreds in a calendar year, which was jointly held by Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Sachin himself! A couple of months later, in Dec 2010, he brought up his 50th Test century, thereby increasing his tally of Test hundreds in the year 2010 to 7.
Sachin Tendulkar also holds the record for the most number of 150+ scores in Test cricket. (Sachin has 20 150+ scores to his credit, as of Oct 11, 2010).
In the process of scoring his 49th Test hundred, Sachin Tendulkar also brought up his 11th Test century against Australia. The only person to have scored more Test hundreds against Australia is Jack Hobbs of England, who scored all of 12 Test hundreds against the Australians.
During his innings of 214 against the Australians, Sachin Tendulkar achieved another milestone; that of aggregating 3000 Test runs against Australia. He becomes only the 3rd man in the world (after Englishmen Jack Hobbs and David Gower) to do so.
Till date, in his Test career, Sachin Tendulkar has won the Man of the Match (MoM) award 14 times, which is the highest by an Indian, and the joint 5th highest in the world. He has also been awarded the Man of the Series (MoS) award on 5 occasions.
Till date, Sachin Tendulkar has scored 1000+ Test runs in a calendar year on 6 occasions (1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2008 and 2010). This particular record of Sachin Tendulkar also happens to be a world record. Brian Lara of the West Indies and the Australian pair of Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting are all in joint 2nd place, each having achieved this feat on 5 occasions.
When he scored 217 against New Zealand in the 1999/00 season, Sachin Tendulkar broke, and is still the present holder, of the record for the highest Test score made by an Indian captain. Previously, the record was held by Sunil Gavaskar who, when captaining the side, had scored 205 against the West Indies in Mumbai in 1978/79.
Sachin Tendulkar was 17 years and 197 days old when he scored his first Test hundred. He remains the youngest Indian to have scored a Test hundred. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, Sachin happens to be 3rd on the list of youngest Test centurions in world cricket.
Till date, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid have put on 19 hundred plus stands in Test cricket. This is a world record for the most number of century partnerships by a single pair in Test cricket.
When he scored his 51st Test hundred against South Africa at Cape Town, Sachin Tendulkar became the first overseas batsman to have scored 5 Test centuries on South African soil. The previous highest was 4 Test centuries by Wally Hammond of England and Neil Harvey of Australia.
Out of his 51 Test centuries, 22 have been scored at home and 29 have been scored overseas. Sachin Tendulkar's record of 29 overseas Test hundreds is a world record, not to mention an indication of his consistency and his spectacular performance away from home.
Another interesting stat (and of course, another Sachin Tendulkar record!) is that Sachin has now scored 12 Test hundreds after the age of 35. Graham Gooch of England remains the only other player to have done so.Sachin Tendulkar World Records

Over his career, Sachin Tendulkar has broken many, many world records, and has set several new ones. In addition to the many world records mentioned earlier (in the ODI and Test record sections), here is a listing of a few more of Sachin Tendulkar's world records (both in Tests as well as One Dayers):
Till date, Sachin Tendulkar remains the only player in the world to have scored 5 Test centuries before the age of 20.
Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run scorer in the history of World Cup Cricket. Till date, he has scored a total of 1,796 runs in 36 World Cup matches (spread over 5 World Cups from 1992 to 2007).
He also holds the record for the most number of runs in a single World Cup event (673 runs in the 2003 Cricket World Cup).
Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer to have achieved the unique double of scoring 15,000+ ODI runs and taking 150+ ODI wickets.
First batsman to score 50 International centuries (combined, Test + ODI)
First batsman to score 60 International centuries (combined, Test + ODI)
First and only batsman to score 70 International centuries (combined, Test + ODI)
First and only batsman to score 80 International centuries (combined, Test + ODI)
First and only batsman to score 90 International centuries (combined, Test + ODI)
As of March 1, 2011, Sachin has scored a whopping 98 International hundreds, and is fast-approaching another mind boggling milestone...that of scoring 100 International hundreds!
Sachin Tendulkar is the first and only player to have scored 30,000 International runs (both, Tests and ODIs combined, read Sachin Tendulkar Completes 30,000 International Runs)
On most occasions, Sachin Tendulkar's name finds mention in the record books for an endless amount of good reasons. However, there also exist a couple of reasons which the Maestro would not be particularly proud of. A lesser-known Sachin Tendulkar record (which by the way, also happens to be a world record), is that he happens to be the batsman who has been dismissed the most number of times while in the nineties. Sachin has fallen prey to the nervous nineties on 25 occasions (17 times in ODIs and 8 times in Tests). This is a world record.
Another unique record in the 'Sachin Tendulkar records list', is that he is the only player to have scored a hundred on both his Ranji Trophy debut, Duleep Trophy debut, as well as his Irani Trophy debut (all three being premier domestic cricket tournaments in India).
During the course of his magnificent innings of 120 against England at Bangalore on 27th Feb 2011, Sachin Tendulkar achieved yet another milestone; that of having scored the most number of hundreds in World Cup cricket (5 World Cup hundreds till date). He previously shared this record with 3 other players - Sourav Ganguly, Ricky Ponting and Mark Waugh (4 World Cup hundreds scored by each of these players).
As far as 50+ scores are concerned, Sachin leads the pack by a long, long margin. He has crossed the 50 run mark on 17 occasions (this includes the 5 hundreds). Herschelle Gibbs and Ricky Ponting are second placed with ten 50+ scores each (Gibbs with 2 hundreds, Ponting with 4).
Here is another mammoth Sachin Tendulkar record. After combining both Test, ODI as well as T20 batting records and statistics, it comes as no surprise to see Sachin's name right at the top of the list of 'most boundary scorers' in International cricket. Till date, Sachin Tendulkar has scored in excess of 3,675 boundaries. Second placed in this list, is West Indian Brian Lara, who with 2594, is more than a thousand boundary hits behind Tendulkar. Ricky Ponting is in third place with 2504 (these numbers are as per March 1, 2010).
Tendulkar isn't far behind when it comes to clearing the ropes either. With a combined total of 240 sixes till date (in all three forms of cricket), Sachin has proved time and again that he is undoubtedly the most complete batsman ever...a perfect blend of power, precision and technique.
Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the most Man of the Match (MoM) and Man of the Series (MoS) awards in International cricket (all three forms combined). Till date, he has won the MoM award 75 times (14 times in Tests, 61 times in ODIs) and the MoS award 20 times (5 times in Tests, 15 times in ODIs). Both are world records.
Here is another of Sachin's records. He, along with Sourav Ganguly, have been involved in 38 hundred plus partnerships in International cricket (all three forms combined). This is a world record. The 12,400 runs scored by this pair in International cricket (all three forms combined) is also a world record. (Incidentally, the pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid have also put on 29 century stands in International cricket, which presently places them at number 3 on the list).
Between 25th April 1990 and 24th April 1998, Sachin Tendulkar represented India in a total of 239 matches (54 Tests and 185 ODIs) without missing a single game. Till date, this remains a world record for the most number of consecutive matches for a team (all forms of International cricket).

Cricket Equipment

Cricket is becoming popular globally; day is not far when like Soccer, Cricket will become mass mania across the globe. Cricket is a religion in India and Pakistan. In India all youngsters aspire to become Sachin Tendulkar or Kapil Dev. Cricket mania or pure love of this game can be witnessed during World Cups especially if match is between India and Pakistan.

This fantastic, nerve breaking game is played between teams of eleven players each. Due to increasing interest of corporate in cricket and huge amount of money associated with the game, cricket sports equipments have become trendier.
Following are the cricket equipments:
Cricket bat:
Bat is made of wood and has a long handle. It cannot be longer than 38 inches or wider than 4.25 inches. The front portion of the bat is flat and back portion has a slender curve, which gives the bat thickness and balance.

Ball:
Standard circumference is 9 inches. The ball is made of cork at its center, wrapped in twine and covered with leather, which is stitched to form a seam. White ball is used in international cricket.

Stumps:
These are three wooden poles of height 28 inches. It has a conical bottom and a horizontal groove across the top end. There are three stumps at each end, with two bails sitting across the top of them and are equally spaced to cover a width of nine inches.

Boundary:
A rope which demarcates the perimeter of the field is known as boundary line.

Sight screen:
It is the screen outside the boundary exactly parallel to the width of the pitch and behind both pairs of stumps for better visibility.
Cricket clothing is fashioned in such a way, so that it is comfortable and at the same time provides the proper protection to the players. Apart from t-shirts with collar, trousers, hats, caps, spiked shoes, and sunglasses following are the important protective wear in the game of cricket.
Leg pads: These are worn by batsmen and wicket keeper to protect themselves against the pace of the ball. Today’s pads are very light in weight but are still great protection for the batsmen. Wicket keeper’s pads are similar to batting pads, but they are shorter and lighter in weight, making them easier to move and dive around in.

Gloves:
There are two types of gloves, one used by batsmen which has thick padding above the fingers. Wicket keeper wears the other gloves, which are larger in size with web between thumb and forefinger. Wicket keepers like to wear a pair of cotton inners underneath the main gloves.

Helmet:
Helmet is worn by batsmen and a maximum of one close fielder or keeper. Helmet is a must to avoid any accident in the field be it full toss, top-edged or a throw, which can land on the players head.

Abdominal guard:
It is high density plastic with smooth edge worn to protect the "privates" when batting against a cricket ball or other hard ball. Wicketkeepers and fielders close to the wicket should also wear it. It is also called as box, cup or cricket box.

Other cricket equipments used by batsmen are thigh pad and rib guard for the protection of thigh and chest respectively. If you've ever been hit by a quick delivery, you'll know it's always better to use the guards in the game of cricket, as much as you can so that the game becomes more fun.

With the advent of "twenty-twenty" in the international cricket, the pace and spirit of the game is at its peak. There may be cricket equipments for safer and better play on the ground but for cricket fans, every time match reaches its climax its magic catches them off guard!
